The Classic French Jacket

Coming March 5, 2012

The classic French jacket is constructed in the style of Coco Chanel's iconic suits.  It fits more like a sweater wrap than a hard tailored jacket.

In this workshop, six days are devoted to the creation of the "haute couture" version of a Chanel jacket, beginning with a fitted muslin and working through completion while incorporating design details and couture sewing techniques.  All steps will be under the close supervision of couturier Susan Khalje.

In this class, students will fine tune the fit of their muslin and learn how to adapt it for project use; work with underlinings and linings; learn about inner structure and garment engineering; use appropriate hand or machine sewing techniques; and learn to apply the trims, buttons and pockets that characterize a Chanel jacket.

Cost is $995 for six full days of instruction.  Follow this link to register on Susan's own web site.
